The Banking and Financial Services Department advises many of the worlds
leading investment and commercial banks, securities and derivatives trading
houses, broker dealers, investment managers, investment funds, insurance companies
and other financial services firms operating in Ireland.
In particular, we represent many banks, financial services providers and investments funds located in the International Financial Services Centre. We also act for many of Irelands leading domestic banks and financial services firms.

Investment Funds
We have one of the largest teams of investment funds lawyers in Dublin and represent
many of the leading institutions involved in the offshore funds market.
Investment Services
We advise in relation to all legal and tax aspects of investment services, including
investment funds, life assurance and pensions. The unique Irish tax status of
certain investment business, including funds and life assurance, together with
an EU recognised regulator provides an international hub for the location of
such business in Ireland.
Financial Services on the
Internet
We have advised a number of financial institutions in relation to the provision
of on-line financial services to Irish and non-Irish customers.
Banking
We act for many of the leading Irish and international banks in relation to
a wide variety of banking transactions including syndicated loans, acquisition
financings, management buyouts, property financings and leveraged financings
of all kinds.
Project Finance
We have advised both lenders and promoters in relation to most of the significant
project finance transactions involving Irish projects that have been done over
the last few years.
Regulatory Matters
We regularly work with senior management, legal and compliance teams and internal
audit professionals of leading domestic and international financial institutions
providing effective, timely and practical solutions to the challenges posed
by the increasing number of EU and domestic compliance regulations. For further

Structured Finance
We have advised on a wide range of structured finance arrangements. For further

Asset Finance
We represent a number of the major aircraft lessors, arrangers and financiers
and have successfully structured a variety of aircraft acquisitions, financings
and leasing transactions through Ireland. We have also been involved in a number
of ship and small and medium ticket financing and leasing transactions. Members
of the department work closely with our tax group in structuring asset finance
transactions.
Establishing Irish Banks
We have advised a number of multinational companies and foreign financial institutions
in relation to establishing licensed banks in Ireland.
Bond Issues and Commercial
Paper Programmes
We have advised in relation to the establishment of a number of medium-term
note programmes and commercial paper programmes by Irish entities.
IFSC Treasury Operations
The Banking and Financial Services Department has established numerous IFSC
treasury operations for leading US and other companies.

by asset size in Dublin, with assets in excess of $15 billion
advised a number of leading promoters on the establishment of their Asian funds platform
advised leading US and UK fund promoters on the integration of their product ranges post-merger, and advising on the merger itself
advised on the establishment and listing of various hedge funds and long/short funds in Dublin
advised on the establishment of the first multi-manager managed futures fund and one of the first fund of hedge fund structures authorised by the Central Bank

advised a leading international investment bank on the establishment and regulation
of an Irish subsidiary to service its alternative investment business
advised another leading international investment bank on the establishment of a sales office in Ireland to service its high net worth client base in Ireland and throughout the EU
